Well I have to share with everyone our great time we had this past Wednesday at the McCain/Palin rally. What an exciting event it was. I really wasn't prepared to enjoy it as much as I did.

We got there about 9:30 and waited in line for three hours to get in. Since we were at the beginning of the entrance line we were able to get right up to the stage!!! WOW!! That made the first three hours and knowing we would have to stand another 3-4 hours completely worth it.

The kids were in total awe of the excitement of the day. As the time drew closer for the Senator and the Governor to come, they began handing out pompoms, signs, and SS checking the whole scene out. I guess electric would be a good word to use to describe it.

The topper being us shaking hands with John McCain, Cindy McCain, Sarah Palin, Todd Palin and Willow and Piper. They were so personable and not "rushing" through.

Days like this truly make me grateful that we live in a country that allows me to homeschool my children and be able to take them to an event like this for a field trip. Thanks to men like John McCain we have these freedoms.

Friday night ALONE

Here I am all alone on Friday night, with so many things I need/want to do and I have no idea where to begin. Dd and ds have gone away with grandma and dh is working. I honestly cannot remember the last time I was alone for 5 hours. Definitely a good time for a pumpkin spice cappuccino. Also a good time to get ahead on reading for school. Maybe some packing--nah, reading sounds better. :) After the trip to Starbucks of course.

We are only 1 hour to kickoff for the big game at Lexington tonight. Hoping to see Coach Payne go 8-0. So glad you could go tonight mom!!! What a big surprise for BJ.

Tomorrow are our last soccer games for the season. This has been so much fun. Watching them improve every game and become such aggressive players!!! Ds's soccer coach informed us that for his end of season party he has a parent vs. team game. That should be fun. I am scared for my dh, he is so competitive and so are the kids, this could get ugly. Probably best for mom just to watch ;) After all, someone has to take pictures.

So, my brother, who is on the other side of the political fence from me ( we are praying for ya buck:)) is having a little fun tonight with all the election drama. I can't wait to hear how it turns out and that everyone is OK. He is as passionate about what he believes as I am. So this could turn out to be a very interesting night for him. Don't forget to send the pictures, buck. :)

Well, I guess I am off to whatever I can get myself into this evening. Coffee, reading and getting ahead of the game sounds like a great plan to me. I will be so happy to wake up tomorrow with a jump start on next week and maybe even have the notes typed for my pastor from the bus workers convention we went to. Which btw was an amazing time. It was so refreshing to get away, hear new ideas and be encouraged in the Lord's work. Not to mention the great time spent with friends.......

Moving

Definitely not a job I am looking forward to. This is only day one of beginning to begin packing:) And already UGH!
Not a big fan of change, this is always a difficult task for me. I have a great desire for everything in my world to "have a home", be put away when not in use and be very organized. The trouble is I don't accomplish the task very well. So now that everything will have "a new home", I have to organize it all and I just know when it gets to the "new home" it will stay that way. Right?
A girl can dream:) I just don't understand how it gets so out of hand so fast. I have only been in this house 4 years and in that short amount of time--- oh boy have I accumulated stuff. And so have my children.
Today dd and I are starting her room and this is break time. What a job. She loves everything, it all has meaning. Throwing a stuffed animal away is murder, even if the face has been chewed off by our precious Molly. There are a million and one pieces to Polly Pocket. Not only Polly's clothes but her friends clothes, the mall, the pet shop, the beach, the salon...... it never ends. At least Barbie stuff you can see. Who invented this Polly chick??? Unlike the inventor of the vacuum, this is someone I don't want to meet. Although I do believe I would like the vacuum to meet Polly {he,he,he}. OK a woman packing a child's room could have thoughts like that, right?
Well, I know I cannot allow myself or dd to get too comfortable or this job won't get done today.
Just for the record Lexington won BIG last night 56-6. So Coach Payne is now at 7-0. Watching your brother coach a sport is almost as much fun as watching him play. It's so fun do see the animation and the intense purposeful way he prowls up and down the sidelines ready for every hit by his players. All 3 of my brothers were great athletes, so to watch them as adults do what they love with the same intensity of their youth is really something I am grateful to witness.
That's it, time is up. Back to collecting tiny little shoes, the motivator here is that dh will be WOWED when he sees how much we got done while he worked 17 hours today. {THANK YOU:)}
Psalm 107:1 O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Week 4 in the bag

Well here it is the first 4 weeks of school finished. I am so proud of my students!!!
There have been some bumps in the road (some bigger than others). But for the most part I just have to tell you that these two are amazing. Good diligent workers, with a great desire to do well in school.
They both got A's on their English tests this week, and they were tough tests. Can I add how much I am enjoying doing 4th and 6th grade English again. That is the truth. I had no idea just how much I had forgotten in just 29 + years. ;)
Next week we are going to be in Kentucky for 3 days at a bus workers convention for our church. DH and I are the only ones taking our children, out of 3 couples. So I am sure next week won't end so calmly. Not sure how much work we will get done. Math, spelling and TOG are what we will take to do. That will leave English, dictation, art and others aside for three days.
That is the beauty of homeschooling, right? :)
So for anyone out there reading that doesn't know, the purple is for LEX!!! GO LEX!!!
I know my friend Trish is reading, she told me so:) I would like to encourage comments as the reason for this is to share and to create dialogue with other people. So please feel free to comment!!!!!!!!!!!

Fall is here

BRRRR!!!
I have challenged the rest of the family to dress warm and bundle up. Can we make it until November 1st without turning on the heat? I doubt it. Maybe October 15th!?!?!
As we walked the paper route this morning, true signs of fall were in the air. Leaves, walnuts and buckeyes peppered the streets. We were so happy for all the squirrels who are busy storing up for winter. Speaking of squirrels---- We have a beagle (Molly) who loves to alert us to all intruders in her yard. There is a squirrel who travels across our neighbors fence every morning about 8. Well, Molly really is upset by this and apparently the squirrel is not so happy with her howling because Monday morning the squirrel stopped on the fence, looked right at ds and me through the open window and began speaking squirrel to us. NO KIDDING. It was like he was seriously telling us something. We cracked up and as he went on his way he fell off the fence LOL. I think he was so upset that he lost his balance.
The family is really looking forward to going to watch my brother coach his team on to another victory tomorrow night. Definitely another fun thing about fall--high school football. The first game of the season it was so hot, no hot chocolate was needed. I do believe tomorrow will be different. GO LEX!!
Time to get back to school, their break is over, so is mine:)
